The residents of Nyamasaria are in shock following the tragic death of a young woman, Josephine Akiri, who was found dead in her rented house on Thursday, August 29. Troubling Final Days: What Josephine Akiri Faced Before Her Death

Excerpts from online conversations with her friends revealed that Josephine had been distressed about her partner's neglect after she became pregnant. She expressed deep frustration about being abandoned and lacking basic necessities, including food, because she was unable to work due to her pregnancy.

In her chats, Josephine accused her partner of ignoring her and instead spending time with other women in Kisumu's entertainment spots. She lamented being left alone to suffer while he allegedly spent lavishly on alcohol every weekend.

"He is seen in clubs with different ladies and buying expensive alcohol every weekend. He doesn't care anymore about me, given that I am carrying his child. He doesn't bother to make a call or text to check on how I am doing. When I tell him I am sick, he acts helpless. I can't go to work because I have become lazy due to pregnancy. I asked him to help pay rent," Josephine confided to a friend in one of the chats.

Her messages conveyed her despair and the difficulties she faced in trying to support herself and her unborn child.

Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding Josephine's death, and her body has been moved to the morgue as they seek to understand what led to this tragic loss.
