About Canopy:
Canopy is Kisumu’s newest club and lounge, dedicated to cutting-edge music, electrifying energy, and unforgettable nights. We are building a team of dynamic performers to become the heartbeat of the city’s nightlife.
DJ – Role & Responsibilities:
- Perform DJ sets aligned with Canopy’s brand and themed nights.
- Seamlessly mix tracks for continuous high-energy flow.
- Read the crowd and adapt music in real-time.
- Build and maintain a music library across relevant genres.
- Coordinate with MC and management on set times and events.
- Ensure proper setup and care of all DJ equipment.
- Promote performances and events on social media.
MC – Role & Responsibilities:
- Host nights, engage the crowd, and make announcements.
- Introduce the DJ and interact during sets to amplify excitement.
- Hyping the crowd during peak moments and special events.
- Ensure professional announcements and event communication.
- Collaborate with DJs to create cohesive audio experiences.
- Assist in themed nights and special event hosting.
Who You Are:
- Proven experience as a DJ or MC; portfolio or demo mix preferred.
- Deep knowledge of Afrobeat, Gengetone, Bongo Flava, House, Amapiano, and other relevant genres.
- Technical proficiency with DJ equipment/software (CDJs, controllers, mixers, Rekordbox, Serato, Virtual DJ).
- Exceptional stage presence and ability to read and hype a crowd.
- Fluency in English & Swahili; knowledge of Luo is a strong advantage.
- Reliable, professional, and team-oriented.
