Fred Nyasoro has humorously recounted his four failed attempts at getting married, which have left him feeling wary. In a lighthearted Facebook post, he shared how his experiences with women had left him disillusioned.
Nyasoro's First Attempt at Marriage
In his first attempt, Nyasoro was serious about settling down and even traveled to Kano for an introduction ceremony with the woman he intended to marry. He and two friends made the journey from Mombasa to Ahero in a Toyota Vitz, ready to take the next step.
“Introductions, unlike the dowry ceremony (nyombo), don’t require many people, so I budgeted KSh 50,000: KSh 20,000 for each of the parents and KSh 10,000 for catering,” Nyasoro explained.
He planned to formally ask for the young woman's hand in marriage as a precursor to the dowry negotiations. However, things took an unexpected turn when the woman's father deemed the money an insult, stating that the minimum token for introductions should be KSh 100,000.
Nyasoro tried to persuade his girlfriend to ask her father for leniency, promising to offer more next time. But she insisted he follow her father's request. Feeling frustrated, Nyasoro took a break from the relationship and ended up spending the entire KSh 50,000 partying with his friends at a nearby pub.
Nyasoro's Second Attempt at Marriage
After the disappointment of the first attempt, Nyasoro moved on and started living with a new partner. Just when he thought they were on the path to a lasting relationship, he discovered she was involved in an affair. She was so infatuated with the other man that she would sneak out to meet him, even when she was with Nyasoro.
“The worst part was finding out they had a child together. I couldn’t continue the relationship after that,” Nyasoro recalled.
Nyasoro's Third and Fourth Attempts at Marriage
Despite his setbacks, the ever-hopeful Nyasoro found a third woman he deeply cared for, even taking her to his village for various events. After several visits, Nyasoro’s mother also became fond of her. However, the relationship was plagued by her constant insecurity about anyone around Nyasoro, including his female followers on social media.
“We finally broke up when I discovered that, despite all her insecurities, she was the one cheating on me with a married man,” he shared.
In his most recent, fourth attempt, Nyasoro compared the relationship to a cat-and-mouse game. To this day, he’s unsure whether he was the cat or the mouse, but one thing is clear—he’s single again.
