Founded in 2008, better with water (previously Eau et Vie) is a French non-confessional and non-political international solidarity association, inspired by an idea: slum dwellers also deserve and can afford sustainable water supply in their homes.
The levers of action are access to a water service at home, the absence of which is a real scourge in densely populated urban areas, and whose impact is also achieved through community building.
In 2024, better with water works in 2 countries (Bangladesh and the Philippines) for a global budget of 3.3M€, with mixed financing (private and public).
In the context opening a new project in a new country, better with water is actively seeking a:
Kenya Project Manager
Under the supervision of the Development and Technical Support Director based in France, the Project Manager will be responsible for the implementation and launch of the Kenya project according our better with water scheme of intervention.
The key responsibilities are the following:
– Develop and Secure Operational Partnerships and Intervention Strategy:
Negotiate with external stakeholders.
Represent Better with Water in various forums and meetings.
– Administrative and HR Setup of the Project:
Open and structure the local head office and the Kisumu agency (Social Enterprise and NGO).
Recruit and onboard new employees.
Ensure compliance with legal frameworks.
Co-construct the new organization in collaboration with HQ HR and FinAdmin Departments.
– Lead and Monitor Operational Deployment:
Execute the project according to the Action Plan.
Collaborate with HQ Technical Support department to co-construct the implementation pattern.
– Identify and secure new financial and technical partnerships to support the project.
– Contribute to the improvement and optimization of organizational tools and procedures

Several weeks of orientation will be organized at the HQ (if possible) and in Bangladesh
Expériences / Formation
Holder of a Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering or Master’s degree in Economics, Development Studies, Public Policy, Management, Business Administration or any other related discipline, you have a proven experience of at least four years in the Development Sector.
A 2-year-long experience as project manager in WASH sector (including HR and Financial components) is mandatory. A sound experience abroad in multicultural context is also required.
Experience in initiating and implementing new projects is highly desirable.
First contact with Kenya context and/or one of better with water’s fields of interventions are strong assets.
As a project manager, you are eager to lead the establishment of activities for a water-related social program in conjunction with ONG activities. You are keen to collaborate with all stakeholders, both internally and remotely, as well as with external BWW representations.
Patience, adaptability, strong communication skills, and a knack for negotiation are crucial in the context of opening new programs.
An entrepreneurial and pioneering spirit, coupled with a strong affinity for task versatility, is essential for thriving in this role.
Fully proficiency in English is compulsory. Knowledge of French would be a very strong asset (French funders).

Mission based in Kisumu Kenya, with regular field visits in our potential intervention areas in Kisumu and regular visits if needed in Nairobi.
