Sanara Initiative Launches to Transform Kisumu’s Creative Sector

The Sanara initiative has officially launched its Kisumu chapter, bringing a significant boost to the region’s creative economy. This ambitious program, part of a larger nationwide effort, focuses on empowering young creatives in Kisumu through skill development, business support, and access to financial resources.

Empowering Kisumu’s Creatives

In Kisumu, Sanara targets a wide array of creative industries, including fashion, film, live music, content creation, and performing arts. By providing tailored training and resources, the program aims to nurture local talent and position the city as a hub for cultural innovation.

The initiative is particularly impactful for youth, women, refugees, and individuals with disabilities, reflecting its inclusive approach. One of its major goals in Kisumu is to equip creatives with global-standard skills while fostering business sustainability in the creative sector.

Financial and Business Support for Local Entrepreneurs

A key highlight of the Kisumu chapter is the introduction of the Ota Growth initiative by HEVA. This program offers competitive loans ranging from KES 5 million to KES 20 million, empowering youth- and women-led creative enterprises to invest in growth areas such as fashion design, performing arts, and film production.

A Bright Future for Kisumu’s Creative Economy

Running from 2024 to 2027, Sanara’s Kisumu chapter is expected to leave a lasting impact by creating sustainable livelihoods, fostering artistic innovation, and enhancing the city’s cultural reputation. The initiative represents a turning point for local creatives, offering them the resources needed to transform their passions into viable careers.

This launch underscores Kisumu’s growing importance in Kenya’s creative and cultural landscape, promising a brighter future for the city’s artistic community.
