Kisumu MPESA Businesswoman Stabbed to Death in Suspected Crime of Passion

A 30-year-old MPESA businesswoman was fatally stabbed on Friday night in Nyamasaria, Kisumu, in what police suspect to be a crime of passion.

The victim, who ran an MPESA agent booth along the Kisumu-Nairobi highway, was attacked near the Butter Toast Boda Boda Shade.

Suspect on the Run
According to a police report, the woman was allegedly stabbed by the wife of a boda boda rider, who reportedly found them engaged in a conversation.

Michael Mboya, a boda boda rider who reported the incident to the police, claimed that the suspect’s husband had been having an affair with the deceased, which infuriated his wife. The confrontation turned violent, leading to the fatal attack.

Eyewitnesses say the suspect used a kitchen knife to stab the victim in the chest before fleeing into the darkness.

"The stab wound was on the left side of her chest, and there was a deep cut on her mouth, which was oozing blood,” the police report stated.

Police Investigations Underway
Officers from Kasagam Police Station and detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Kisumu East quickly responded to the scene. Forensic experts documented the crime scene before transferring the body to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital (JOOTRH) morgue for an autopsy.

Authorities have launched a manhunt for the suspect, as investigations continue to piece together the events leading to the murder.
