Seventeen families from Ofunyu and Ragumo in Kisumu East Constituency, Kisumu County, are pleading for assistance after heavy rains accompanied by strong winds destroyed their homes and swept away their belongings last night.
The affected residents say they have been left homeless and are in urgent need of alternative shelter, food, and other basic necessities. They are calling on the Kisumu County Government, local leaders, and well-wishers to step in and provide emergency assistance.
“The winds were too strong, and they destroyed everything we had worked for over the years. Now, we have nowhere to go, and we are sleeping in the cold,” lamented one of the affected residents.
Kolwa ODM chairperson Alex Ayieta has urged the government to fast-track relief efforts through the Disaster Management Fund or any other emergency aid program to help the victims.
The displaced families are now appealing for food, shelter, and household essentials as they try to recover from the devastation.
