The County Department of Public Health and Sanitation wishes to inform the public of an
ongoing upsurge of acute watery diarrhea cases in Kisumu County. The first cases were
reported at Ahero County Hospital in Nyando Sub-County on March 19, 2025.
Residents of Kisumu County are urged to take the following precautions to prevent further
spread of the disease:
● Boil or treat drinking water before use.
● Wash hands thoroughly with soap and clean water, especially before eating and after using the toilet.
● Ensure proper sanitation by using latrines and avoiding open defecation.
● Wash fruits and vegetables with clean water before consumption.
● Seek medical attention immediately if experiencing symptoms such as diarrhea, dehydration, or vomiting.
