Government Rolls Out 66 Development Projects in Nyanza Region

The Nyanza region, covering Siaya, Migori, Homa Bay, and Kisumu counties, is witnessing a major development push as the government implements 66 infrastructure projects. This initiative is seen as part of the political goodwill following the cooperation between President William Ruto and ODM leader Raila Odinga.

Among the key projects is the construction of the Lake Victoria Ring Road, which will enhance connectivity across the counties bordering the lake. Additionally, the government has allocated Ksh 1.45 billion for the establishment of 10 fish landing sites in Kisumu, Siaya, Migori, Homa Bay, and Busia counties to boost the local fishing industry.

The affordable housing initiative is also progressing in Kisumu, Siaya, and Homa Bay, with Kisumu's skyline transforming as new units rise. In Alego Usonga, a project to build 882 housing units is currently employing 230 workers and is expected to be completed within 18 months.

These developments highlight the government's commitment to addressing economic disparities in Nyanza, fostering growth, and promoting national unity through equitable development. Local leaders have welcomed the projects, urging residents to take full advantage of the opportunities created.
