A 32-year-old woman from Kisumu has been arrested by local authorities for allegedly recording explicit videos involving her 10-year-old son and selling them online. The shocking case has sparked outrage and raised concerns about child exploitation in the region.
According to police reports, the suspect was apprehended following a tip-off from a concerned citizen who stumbled upon the illicit content on a popular social media platform. Investigators revealed that the woman had been producing and distributing the videos for financial gain, targeting online buyers both locally and internationally.
“This is a deeply disturbing case of child abuse and exploitation,” said Kisumu County Police Commander Jane Mwangi. “We are working closely with cybercrime units to trace the individuals who purchased these videos and ensure they face the full force of the law.”
The minor has since been rescued and placed under the care of child protection services. Authorities have also initiated counseling sessions to help him cope with the trauma.
Child rights organizations have condemned the incident, calling for stricter enforcement of laws protecting children from online exploitation. “This case highlights the urgent need for increased awareness and vigilance in combating child abuse, especially in the digital space,” said Grace Atieno, a representative from a local child welfare NGO.
The suspect is expected to be charged with multiple offenses, including child pornography, child abuse, and exploitation. If convicted, she could face a lengthy prison sentence under Kenya’s Sexual Offenses Act and Children’s Act.
This incident has reignited calls for stronger measures to monitor online platforms and protect vulnerable children from predators. Authorities are urging the public to report any suspicious activities involving child exploitation to help prevent such crimes in the future.
