A tragic road accident on Wednesday morning claimed the lives of four people, including three pupils, at Kibuon area along the Katito-Sondu Road in Nyakach, Kisumu County.
The fatal crash occurred when a Nissan matatu collided with a stalled sugarcane tractor belonging to a local sugar factory. The matatu was reportedly ferrying pupils from Ober Boys Boarding Primary School in Homa Bay to Kisumu as part of a school-arranged drop-off.

Fourteen other pupils sustained injuries and are currently receiving treatment at the same hospital.
The bodies of the deceased have been moved to the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary in Kisumu.
Authorities are urging motorists to exercise caution and ensure vehicles are roadworthy to prevent such tragedies. Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
