A tragic accident happened on Friday, April 25, 2025, at Ng’iya Center along the Siaya-Kisumu road, claiming two lives and leaving several others injured. The crash involved a truck transporting coffins and a public service vehicle (matatu).
Emergency responders arrived swiftly and took the injured to the Siaya Teaching and Referral Hospital for treatment. Images from the scene show the matatu with heavy damage at the rear, highlighting the severity of the collision.
This heartbreaking event has once again raised concerns about road safety across Kenya. In response to the growing number of accidents, the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has intensified a nationwide crackdown on traffic offenders, focusing on unroadworthy vehicles, the absence of speed governors, and drunk driving.
Authorities are calling on drivers to strictly follow traffic rules, ensure their vehicles are roadworthy, and exercise extra caution to help prevent such tragedies.
