Vacancy for Accountants Assistant

Job Purpose:
To support the finance and accounts department in ensuring smooth financial operations, accurate record-keeping, and timely reporting, specifically tailored to the needs of a busy hospitality environment.

Key Responsibilities:
-Accurately process guest invoices, supplier invoices, and payments.
-Maintain updated records of all room, event, and restaurant revenues.
-Assist with bank, cash, and credit card reconciliations.
-Monitor petty cash float for different departments (e.g., kitchen, housekeeping) and reconcile usage.
-Assist in tracking and managing supplier accounts, including hotel suppliers and service providers.
-Prepare and submit statutory returns (e.g., VAT, PAYE, NHIF, NSSF) as required.
-Support payroll processing for hotel staff, including casual and part-time workers.
-Assist in preparing monthly financial reports for management, including revenue summaries, food & beverage cost reports, etc.
-Ensure compliance with internal financial policies and hospitality industry standards.
-Assist during stocktaking and inventory reconciliation (e.g., bar stock, kitchen supplies).
-Support internal and external audits by providing financial data and documentation.

Key Requirements:
-Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
-CPA Part I or II qualification (or equivalent) is preferred.
-1–2 years of accounting experience in a hospitality setting (hotel, restaurant, lodge) is an advantage.
-Knowledge of hotel property management systems (PMS) like Opera, Micros, or POS systems is a plus.
-Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Excel); knowledge of accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage).
-Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
-Ability to handle confidential information with integrity.
-Good communication and interpersonal skills, with a service-oriented mindset.
