Recovery Officer Position - Credit Collections Specialist
Job Overview
A Recovery Officer manages and oversees the collection of overdue loans and debts, minimizing losses for the institution by recovering outstanding payments from defaulting borrowers.
Key Responsibilities
Collections Management
- Ensure targets are met in minimizing credit losses and maximizing recoveries
- Contact defaulting customers via calls/visits to negotiate settlements
- Work closely with BDO/CO on bad debt portfolios
- Attend to daily customer and business queries
Reporting & Analysis
- Prepare regular reports on overdue accounts and recovery plans
- Identify and assess risk areas in recovery processes
- Investigate and resolve customer queries/complaints
- Escalate deceased/disabled customer cases
Qualifications & Requirements
- Diploma/Degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Banking or related field
- Minimum 3 years experience in credit recoveries
- Credit Operations & SME evaluation experience
- Professional Credit Management qualification (added advantage)
- Strong analytical and communication skills
- Excellent negotiation and interpersonal skills
- In-depth knowledge of Kenya/East Africa financial industry
