Prosecution Counsel – Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP)
Job Summary
This is the entry grade for Prosecution Counsel officers. Successful candidates may be deployed to various departments at the headquarters or county offices under the supervision of senior officers.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Conducting criminal and related court proceedings
- Analyzing judgments and preparing documents for appeal or review
- Conducting pre-trial, in-trial and post-trial strategies
- Advising government agencies on criminal matters
- Drafting legal pleadings and documents
- Participating in work planning, procurement, and budgeting
- Compiling and analyzing criminal statistical data
- Engaging with police and law enforcement bodies
- Conducting legal research on assigned case files
Minimum Qualifications
- LL.B degree from a recognized university
- Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Studies (Council of Legal Education)
- Admitted as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya
- Member in good standing with the Law Society of Kenya (LSK)
- Compliance with Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution of Kenya 2010
