Research Assistant – CO-CARE Program (Kisumu, Nairobi, Kiambu & Mombasa)
The County Creative Arts Residence and Empowerment (CO-CARE) Program is a partnership between USIU-Africa, the Challenge Fund for Youth Employment (CFYE), and Across Solutions. The program equips youth (ages 18–35) in the creative economy with technical and entrepreneurial skills to build sustainable careers.
As part of its learning agenda, CO-CARE is recruiting Research Assistants to conduct baseline field data collection across Kisumu, Nairobi, Mombasa, and Kiambu counties.
Key Responsibilities
- Attend a 1-day training on data collection tools and research ethics.
- Participate in piloting the survey tools for quality assurance.
- Coordinate and book appointments with CO-CARE beneficiaries.
- Conduct in-person interviews using digital data tools on mobile devices.
- Ensure high-quality, complete, and confidential data collection.
- Submit daily progress reports, including challenges and solutions.
- Collaborate with the research coordination team to meet field targets.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or ongoing studies in Social Sciences, Education, Economics, Arts, or related field.
- Previous experience in data collection, especially with youth programs.
- Strong grasp of ethical research practices and field methods.
- Fluency in English and Kiswahili; local languages are a plus.
- Proficiency in tools like KoboToolbox, SurveyCTO, or ODK.
- Willingness to travel across assigned counties for fieldwork.
Desirable Attributes
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Self-motivated with good time management skills.
- Experience working in creative or youth-focused projects is advantageous.
Remuneration
A competitive daily rate will be offered for training, piloting, and actual data collection days, subject to satisfactory performance and task completion.
