Victory Farms is seeking a Maintenance Engineer with strong expertise in marine systems to join our team in Kisumu. This critical role involves maintaining and optimizing vessels, aquaculture equipment, and mechanical systems to support our mission of sustainable food production in East Africa.
🔧 Key Responsibilities
Marine & Mechanical Systems
- Maintain, repair, and inspect marine vessels including barges, speed boats, and platforms.
- Oversee mechanical assets such as cranes, compactors, mixers, and tractors.
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules to reduce downtime.
- Conduct performance inspections on marine engines, pumps, and filtration systems.
Troubleshooting & Repair
- Diagnose faults in marine equipment and heavy-duty machines.
- Supervise repairs, recalibrations, and pump replacements.
- Manage spare parts inventory and procurement planning.
Design, Optimization & Project Management
- Design and upgrade mechanical systems for marine/aquaculture needs.
- Conduct feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses.
- Ensure compliance with marine safety and environmental standards.
- Document technical reports, designs, and repair logs.
Team Collaboration & Safety
- Work closely with electrical and operations teams to solve technical issues.
- Promote a strong safety culture and conduct risk assessments.
- Mentor junior technicians on best practices in marine and mechanical engineering.
✅ Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Marine, or related engineering field.
- 5+ years' experience in marine/mechanical roles, especially vessel maintenance.
- Familiarity with maritime regulations and safety compliance.
- Proficient in CAD and engineering analysis tools.
- Excellent troubleshooting and leadership skills.
- Willingness to work in marine/aquaculture settings.
