📘 Research Assistant (4 Positions) – Kisumu

This project will generate vital data on foundational literacy and numeracy across Kenya. As a Research Assistant, you will directly support the collection of evidence that informs educational strategies and impacts thousands of learners.
📋 Key Responsibilities
Training & Preparation
- Attend 1-day in-person training on EGRA/EGMA protocols and child safeguarding.
- Master ethical and child-friendly data collection practices.
Assessment Administration
- Conduct one-on-one EGRA and EGMA tests with primary school children.
- Ensure consistency, accuracy, and child-centered assessment delivery.
Data Collection & Management
- Use mobile tools (KoBoCollect, ODK) to record and sync assessment data.
- Assist in initial data cleaning and resolve inconsistencies.
Quality Assurance
- Submit daily field logs and debrief with supervisors.
- Maintain confidentiality and securely handle all data.
📌 Minimum Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Education, Psychology, Social Sciences, or related field.
- Experience working with young children (ages 6–10) in school or research settings.
- Knowledge of data tools like KoBoCollect, ODK, RedCap, or CommCare.
- Proficiency in MS Word and Excel for basic data work.
- Understanding of research ethics and child safeguarding.
- Fluent in English and Kiswahili (local language is an added advantage).
Preferred
- Familiarity with Kenya’s CBC and foundational learning benchmarks.
- Certification in research ethics involving children.
- Prior experience with EGRA or EGMA tools.
