Psychiatric Nurse (Research) – KEMRI (Kisumu)
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, review, and adhere to study SOPs.
- Sensitize community/health facility teams on the study.
- Respond to participant/community questions in consultation with the coordinator.
- Screen and enroll study participants, administer informed consent.
- Administer study questionnaires, record accurate data, perform quality checks.
- Maintain documentation of all study activities.
- Participate in multidisciplinary case reviews for participants not responding to intervention.
- Provide referrals for high CMD scores per protocol.
- Follow up to ensure timely study visits.
- Monitor participants on medication and update psychiatrist/MDT.
- Ensure participant retention and apply retention strategies.
- Safeguard confidentiality, autonomy, and participant well-being.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly progress/adverse event reports.
- Supervise mentor mothers and ensure intervention implementation.
- Collaborate with research team, health facility staff, and Kargeno Hub staff.
- Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Vacancy Requirements
- Diploma in Nursing (KRCHN) from an accredited institution (Mandatory).
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (Mandatory).
- Certified psychiatric training from an accredited institution (Mandatory).
- Experience in psychiatric/mental health settings, preferably in research (Mandatory).
- Knowledge of psychiatric disorders, assessments, and treatments (Mandatory).
- Excellent interpersonal and team collaboration skills.
- Strong organization, time management, and attention to detail.
- Commitment to ethical conduct and regulatory compliance.
- Analytical, report writing, and communication skills.
