About the Institution
The Aga Khan Hospital, Kisumu (AKHK) is an Institution of the Aga Khan Health Service, Kenya, which is an Agency of the Aga Khan Development Network. The hospital is part of a network of health facilities across East Africa and is currently in an exciting growth phase with multiple outreach health services across Western Kenya.
Overall Responsibility
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing efficient and effective communication services at the hospital's telephone exchange.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure feedback of booked calls is given within 5 minutes
- Effectively handle all incoming and outgoing calls as per policy
- Maintain accurate records of all outgoing calls
- Monitor calls and report any telephone abuse
- Operate paging systems and intercoms during emergency services
- Timely reporting of non-functioning equipment
- Test telephone lines and Public Address System serviceability
- Ensure timely response to all emergency calls with correct information
- Record all emergency codes indicating area and time
- Ensure proper handover after every shift
Requirements & Qualifications
- Diploma in Public Relations, Telecommunications Operations Management, or equivalent from a recognized institution
- At least one year working experience in a similar position
- Experience in an organization handling 100+ calls per day
- Ability to memorize numbers accurately
- Strong sense of responsibility and attention to detail
