The Aga Khan Nursery School, Kisumu (AKNSK) implements the Competency Based Curriculum (CBC) from Playgroup (2.5-year olds) to PP2 (6-year olds). AKNS Kisumu is keen on academic excellence and the development of learners' skills at an early age.
Role Summary
Providing a nurturing and stimulating environment for young children to learn and grow in order to enhance early development of children, fostering a love for learning and supporting their social and emotional well-being.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans and activities to support cognitive, physical, social, and emotional development
- Create a safe and inclusive classroom environment that promotes exploration, creativity, and independence
- Provide varied learning experiences including play-based activities, group discussions, and individualized instruction
- Foster positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues to promote open communication and collaboration
- Monitor and assess each child's progress and development, maintaining accurate records
- Support children in developing essential skills: language, communication, problem-solving, motor skills, and social interactions
- Promote good behavior through positive reinforcement techniques
- Encourage development of independence and self-help skills
- Plan and organize field trips, events, and special activities
- Stay updated on current early childhood education practices through professional development

Qualifications and Experience
- Holder of ECDE Diploma or Degree
- Swimming Skills Level 1 Certificate OR Diploma in Physical Education
- Must be registered with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC)
- At least 3 years teaching experience in Nursery School
- Conversant with the new Competency Based Curriculum (CBC)
