Detectives in Kolenyo are investigating the fatal stabbing of a 26-year-old teacher in an incident that has shocked residents and renewed concerns over rising violent crime in the region.
Teacher fatally stabbed in night attack
Police identified the victim as Laban Odero, a teacher at Anyanga Primary School. Authorities say he was stabbed during a confrontation inside a local bar on the night of April 25.
Preliminary investigations indicate the suspect was known to the victim. After the attack, the assailant reportedly fled the scene before members of the public could intervene.
The injured teacher was rushed to a nearby hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival. His body has since been moved to the mortuary pending a post-mortem examination as detectives continue to pursue the suspect.
Police say the motive behind the killing remains unclear, but the incident adds to growing concerns about increasing murder cases in Kisumu and surrounding areas.

According to police reports, neighbours heard a commotion before discovering the victim engaged in a heated argument with a man known to him. The dispute is believed to have stemmed from allegations of stolen farm produce.
The suspect allegedly stabbed the victim before escaping. The body was moved to the mortuary as investigations continue.
