Shop Manager - Construction Materials Retail (Kisumu)
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Shop Manager to oversee daily store operations, manage stock and sales, supervise staff, and serve contractors and construction clients in Kisumu.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily shop operations and supervise staff members
- Control stock, inventory, pricing, and profit margins
- Drive sales performance and meet established targets
- Handle diverse customers including contractors, fundis, and site teams
- Ensure excellent customer service and smooth workflow
- Maintain store presentation and merchandise displays
- Process sales transactions and manage POS systems
- Monitor market trends and competitor activities
Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Business, Construction Management, Supply Chain, or related field
- Minimum 5 years' experience in retail/shop management
- Experience with interior or construction materials (gypsum, tiles, ceilings, flooring)
- Strong sales, inventory management, and team leadership skills
- Proficient in MS Office, Excel, and POS systems
- Excellent communication and customer service abilities
- Must be based in Kisumu or willing to relocate immediately
- Knowledge of construction industry and materials (added advantage)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in building materials or hardware retail
- Understanding of construction project requirements
- Ability to read technical specifications and drawings
- Experience managing contractor accounts
