Kisumu Governor Anyang Nyong'o has announced a reshuffle of his chief officers in a bid to enhance service delivery across the county.
Implemented on Monday, the changes impact several key departments. Some officers have been reassigned to new roles, others have been promoted, and some will continue in their current positions.
According to a document obtained by the Star and signed by Acting County Secretary Hesbon Hongo, these adjustments are in accordance with Section 45(5) of the County Governments Act 2012 and are effective immediately.
Noteworthy changes include Paul Waweru's transition from Chief Officer of Finance to Acting Chief Officer of the Kisumu Lake Front Development Corporation. Bovince Ochieng, formerly Chief Officer of Trade, Cooperatives, and Tourism, has been moved to oversee Education, Technical Training, Innovation, and Social Services. Meanwhile, Erick Omondi, who was in charge of Agriculture and Livestock, will now manage the Water, Environment, Natural Resources, and Climate Change department.
Francis Asuna, previously responsible for Water, Environment, Natural Resources, and Climate Change, has been appointed to the Sports, Culture, Gender, and Youths Department. Daniel Otieno, who was managing Energy, Transport, Roads, and Public Works, will now head the Agriculture, Irrigation, Livestock Development, Fisheries, and Blue Economy department.
Timothy Nyakwamb Kajwang has been reassigned from Sports, Culture, and Youth Affairs to the Trade, Cooperative, Tourism Industry, and Marketing portfolio. Fredrick Mula will now lead the Energy, Transport, Roads, and Public Works department after moving from his previous role in Education.
Officers retaining their current roles include Ojwang Lusi (Health), Victor Ndereva (Lands), and Wilson Abiero (Economic Planning). John Oywa will continue as the head of Communication and Public Affairs while also taking on responsibilities as Chief Officer of Public Service, County Administration, and Participatory Development. Benter Omollo, formerly in Public Service, has been appointed Acting Chief Officer of Finance.
"The reshuffle is effective immediately, with the transition of responsibilities expected to be completed by the end of business on August 14, 2024," the statement concluded.
