United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party executive council members in Homa Bay County have launched an intensive grassroots mobilization campaign to rally support for the government. The effort is spearheaded by former Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero, county party chairman Kennedy Obuya, and former Rangwe MP Martin Ogindo, with the goal of uniting the lake region behind the government.
Kidero emphasized President William Ruto's commitment to national development, stating, "President Ruto has brought all Kenyans on board through the broad-based government; we should all support his development agenda."
During a press briefing in Homa Bay Town on Monday, Kidero highlighted the UDA manifesto as a key driver for the country's economic transformation. He affirmed that the UDA County Executive Council fully supports President Ruto's vision of national unity and is aggressively recruiting new members in preparation for the 2027 elections.
Kidero set a target to increase the number of registered party members in the county from the current 40% to 60%, aiming to win all elective seats. Odoyo Owidi voiced strong support for President Ruto's decision to include Raila Odinga's allies in the cabinet, noting that the region has recognized the benefits of aligning with the government.
"Some of us joined the government earlier but faced criticism. It is now clear that everyone wants to be part of the government," Owidi said.
Ogindo shared that the President has instructed them to focus on uniting the country and mobilizing the Luo community. Silas Jakakimba, a council member, called for the acceleration of development projects proposed by leaders to ensure timely progress.
