Nyong’o: ODM to Rule Kenya

Nyong’o, who arrived in his home county on Tuesday to a warm reception from party officials and members at Kisumu International Airport, emphasized that the ODM party is a national entity with a rich history. “Do not be afraid to be in this party. We are committed to spreading across the country and working together to build this party, which is destined to lead the nation,” he stated.

Nyong’o highlighted ODM’s dedication to democracy, noting that every member within the party is treated equally. ODM chairperson Gladys Wanga praised Nyong’o, acknowledging his significant contributions as the party’s founding Secretary General. She expressed confidence in his leadership, stating that the officials would follow in his footsteps to meet the aspirations of party members.

“You know the journey this movement has undertaken, and the challenges we’ve overcome,” Wanga remarked. She further added that the party would continue to grow under Nyong’o’s guidance, expressing optimism about the future. “We’re not afraid to say, under your stewardship, this party will go far,” she affirmed.

Raila Odinga, the former party leader, recently stepped down to focus on his bid for the African Union Commission chairperson position. Nyong’o, however, called for the support of the party to help him fill the significant role left by Raila during his temporary absence.

The reception was attended by Migori Governor Ochilo Ayacko, MPs Dr. Joshua Oron, Dr. James Nyikal, Aduma Owuor, and Rosa Buyu. A thanksgiving service is scheduled at Rayta ACK church in Seme sub-county, Nyong’o’s home constituency.
