The family of the late Mrs. Clarice Adhiambo is urgently seeking assistance to raise the remaining hospital fees in order to give their loved one a proper burial. Adhiambo passed away on June 11 after a month-long battle with illness at Africa Inuka Hospital in Kisumu. Her body has been held at the hospital morgue for over five months due to an outstanding medical bill.
Social media influencer Kelly Ken Rodgers shared that Adhiambo was admitted to Kisumu on May 17 while in critical condition. With doctors in public hospitals on strike at the time, her family had no choice but to take her to the private Africa Inuka Hospital. After undergoing surgery and being placed in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Adhiambo sadly succumbed to her illness nearly a month later. She left behind four children, the youngest of whom was just seven months old at the time of her death.
By the time of her passing, her medical bill had reached KSh 1 million. The hospital waived KSh 177,000, and the National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) covered a portion of the expenses. Despite these efforts, a remaining balance of KSh 180,000 still needs to be cleared. Friends and family members have worked tirelessly to raise the funds, but the unpaid balance has left Adhiambo’s body in the morgue for over five months.
Her children, who have endured multiple school terms without being able to bury their mother, continue to suffer from the lack of closure. “The kids have gone through so much. They’ve closed school, reopened, and are about to close again, but their mother is still in the morgue,” a relative shared.
Having sought financial assistance from various offices without success, the family is now appealing to well-wishers for help. They hope that with the support of the community, they can finally lay Clarice Adhiambo to rest and allow her children to say their final goodbyes. “We need to give her a proper burial so they can have closure,” a family member added
