Brutal Murder of 17-Year-Old Student Shocks Muhoroni Community; Suspect in Custody

Authorities in Muhoroni Sub-county, Kisumu County, have launched an investigation into the tragic murder of a 17-year-old Form Four student, whose decomposing body was discovered in a sugarcane plantation in the Migingo area. The victim, a student at Nyando Mixed Secondary Day School, was reported missing by her parents earlier this week after she failed to return home from school. The partially clothed body bore visible signs of strangulation on the neck, and police suspect she may have been sexually assaulted before being killed.

The grim discovery was made after locals noticed dogs carrying body parts from the plantation, prompting them to alert the police. Upon arrival, officers found the severely decomposed body with both legs and hands partially consumed by dogs. The protruding tongue suggested she had been strangled.

A 30-year-old man, identified as Lawrence Owuor, has been arrested as a suspect in connection with the murder, which has sent shockwaves through the community. The body has been transferred to St. Vincent Mission Hospital for a postmortem as investigations into the incident continue.
