Former Kisumu Town West Member of Parliament, Reverend Kenn Nyagudi, passed away on Sunday, March 23, 2025, at the age of 65. He died while receiving treatment at the private wing of Kenyatta National Hospital in Nairobi, following a prolonged illness.
Nyagudi first entered the political scene in 2004, winning a by-election after the death of then-MP Joab Omino. He served until 2007, when he lost his seat to Olago Aluoch. In 2013, after the adoption of the new constitution, Nyagudi contested the Kisumu Central MP seat but was defeated by political newcomer Ken Obura.
Following his exit from active politics, Nyagudi ventured into business and largely stayed out of the public eye.
National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula expressed his condolences, stating, "I send my heartfelt sympathies to the family of former Kisumu Town West MP Rev. Kenn Nyagudi. I was privileged to have interacted with him when I was the Foreign Affairs Minister."
Kisumu Governor Prof. Anyang' Nyong'o also mourned Nyagudi's passing, noting, "Hon. Nyagudi, who passed away on Sunday at Kenyatta National Hospital, will be remembered as one of the few youthful leaders who..."
The late Reverend Kenn Nyagudi is survived by his wife and children. Funeral arrangements are underway, with details to be announced by the family in due course.
