Program Description
Center for International Health, Education and Biosecurity-Kenya, with funding from the National Institute of Health (NIH), is conducting a five-year Co-occurring Alcohol and Smoking Cessation clinical trial among People Living with HIV in Nairobi, Kenya. The study examines how combinations of pharmacological and behavioral interventions may improve long-term abstinence and aims to generate data on the most effective treatments. Applications are invited from qualified candidates for the position of Research Assistant.
Job Summary
The primary function for this position is to recruit, screen, enroll, and follow up participants in compliance with the study protocol.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Screen and recruit potential study participants
- Perform consenting procedures for study participants
- Conduct interviews using study data collection tools according to SOPs
- Conduct clinical assessments and counseling sessions as per the protocol
- Ensure all data collection tools are accurately completed
- Track participants and conduct follow-ups for missed appointments
- Enter data into study databases
- Submit weekly summaries of enrollment and follow-up
Required Minimum Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Sciences, Public Health, Epidemiology, or a related field
- Counseling skills are an added advantage
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a research assistant
- Certification in Human Subjects Protection and Good Clinical Practice
- Fluent in English and Kiswahili, both spoken and written
- Proficiency in computer use and data entry; REDCap experience is a plus
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
