Job Overview
Our client, a leading supermarket in Kisumu, is looking to hire 3 proactive and efficient Cashiers to join their retail team. Successful candidates will be responsible for operating POS systems, handling transactions, and providing excellent customer service.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Operate the Point of Sale (POS) system to process customer purchases, returns, and exchanges
- Accurately handle cash, mobile money, and card payments
- Maintain a clean and organized checkout area
- Assist customers with inquiries and provide helpful product information
- Monitor and replenish checkout supplies (shopping bags, receipt paper)
- Report any discrepancies, malfunctions, or unusual customer behavior to supervisor
- Follow all cash handling procedures and company policies
- Assist with general supermarket duties as required (restocking shelves during downtime)
Requirements
- KCSE Certificate (minimum requirement)
- Proven experience as a cashier in a retail store or restaurant
- Strong knowledge of POS systems and basic accounting principles
- Excellent customer service skills with polite and professional demeanor
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently in fast-paced environment
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous supermarket or retail experience
- Familiarity with various payment systems (MPesa, Airtel Money, cards)
- Basic computer skills
- Good communication skills in English and Swahili
