Our research connects the voices of communities to changemakers for more inclusive societies. With offices in Kenya, Afghanistan, Germany, Tunisia, and the UAE, we operate globally but are rooted locally.

The Role
The Research Assistant will contribute to the full project cycle, support client management, and provide operational and fieldwork support for research projects in the SWANA region.
Key Responsibilities
Objective 1 – Research
- Support project cycle management
- Develop research tools and methodologies
- Conduct desk research and literature reviews
- Transcribe interviews, write field reports, and contribute to final deliverables in English and/or French
- Provide analytical input and policy-aligned recommendations
Objective 2 – Fieldwork
- Conduct primary data collection and supervise field teams
- Monitor quality and consistency of data collected
- Ensure effective resource management during fieldwork
Objective 3 – Organisational Support
- Support business development and internal communications
- Store project documentation systematically
- Participate in planning meetings and provide note-taking and logistical support
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in International Relations, Development, or Political Science
- 2+ years of experience in migration and displacement research
- Fluent in English and French; Arabic is an advantage
- Fieldwork experience in the SWANA region
- Strong writing skills (reports, policy briefs, research papers)
- Experience in mixed methods research and data analysis
- Excellent attention to detail and time management
- Ability to work under pressure and with an international team
Desirable Skills
- Experience with vulnerable populations
- Project management background
- Proficiency in Arabic, Dari, Pashto, or relevant regional languages
