Job Overview: Infection Prevention & Control Coordinator
Location: Aga Khan Hospital, Kisumu
Reporting to: Head of Nursing
Deadline: 15th November 2025
Experience: Minimum 5 years in acute care setting
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct regular rounds in all hospital departments to monitor infection control practices
- Collect data on healthcare associated infections and maintain records
- Monitor compliance to infection prevention and control practices
- Develop policies and guidelines for infection control practices
- Provide oversight of compliance in outreach centers
- Coordinate with hospital leadership on quality improvement
- Investigate infection control problems/outbreaks
- Implement educational programs for staff on infection control
- Ensure availability of infection prevention supplies/equipment
- Prepare monthly statistical reports for infection control committee
- Report outbreaks to relevant committees and authorities
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Public Health, Epidemiology or related field
- Minimum 5 years work experience in acute care setting
- 2 years experience as Prevention & Control of Infection Coordinator
- Valid practicing license with Nursing Council of Kenya
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
- Strong administrative and customer care skills
