Job Purpose

We are looking for an expert in health/social sciences to work as a Program Officer to support the organization in meeting its objectives and grow their career while working for the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and conduct field activities including handling sponsored children
  • Report writing and data management
  • Disability awareness creation in the community
  • Address health and rehabilitation issues of children with disabilities
  • Assist in management of sponsored children in the community
  • Conduct child health follow-ups and medical checkups
  • Organize awareness training and medical outreach activities
  • Link beneficiaries with other relevant bodies and services
  • Maintain and update client profiles
  • Handle confidential and sensitive information appropriately

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong reporting, evaluating, and planning abilities
  • Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Conversant with Child rights and advocacy
  • Strong foundation in social work and community development
  • Proficient in computer and organizational skills
  • Ability to use digital tools for data entry and research
  • Fluent in English and Swahili (Dholuo language is an added advantage)
  • Ability to maintain positive, collaborative relationships with colleagues

Job Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in Health/Public Health or Social Work
  • Social Sciences or Human Services from recognized institutions

Work Experience:

  • At least 3 years' work experience in public health or social work
  • Experience with assessment tools and data entry software
  • Minimum 1-year experience with OVCs (Orphans and Vulnerable Children) and NGOs
