Clinical Officer Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct patient consultations, take medical histories, and perform physical examinations
- Diagnose and treat common medical conditions and minor surgical procedures
- Prescribe appropriate medication and therapies in accordance with established treatment guidelines
- Request, interpret and act upon diagnostic test and laboratory results
- Monitor patients' progress and adjust treatment plans accordingly
- Refer complex cases to specialist physicians or higher-level medical facilities where necessary
- Maintain up-to-date medical records for all patients
- Provide patient education on disease prevention and health promotion
- Ensure compliance with infection prevention and control protocols
- Maintain strict confidentiality and uphold professional ethics at all times
Desirable Qualifications:
- Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Surgery from Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) or any other accredited institution
- Valid practicing licence from the Clinical Officers Council of Kenya
- Minimum 2 years of post-qualification clinical experience
