Communications Manager - Rethinking Economics International (Remote Position)

📍 Location Information

Remote Position: Open to applicants in Kenya and other eligible countries

Time Zone: Must be in UTC +4/-4 time zones

Work Hours: 4 days/week, 7 hours/day (flexible with Tuesday required)

💰 Salary & Benefits

Salary: £25,360 – £27,144 per year (4 days/week)

Benefits: 25 days holiday + bank holidays, 5% pension, remote work allowance, training budget, generous parental leave

Note: All salaries increase by 5% in April 2026

About Rethinking Economics International

Rethinking Economics (RE) is an international network of students, academics and professionals building better economics in society and the classroom. RE started as a student movement in 2012 and has since grown to become a youth movement for anyone interested in relearning, rethinking or rebuilding economics.

✨ What We're Looking For

2026 is a huge year for communications at Rethinking Economics! We are launching an individual membership and making big changes to the governance of our network. This means the right person for this role will be responsible for maintaining our current communications channels AND supporting the team to create new systems for our changing organisation – including the launch of our exciting, new brand.

You will be the voice of Rethinking Economics, representing us across social media, website copy, newsletters, email journeys, press releases & more.

Main Responsibilities

  • Manage the communications@rethinkeconomics.org inbox
  • Create & schedule content for REI's social media (Twitter, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn)
  • Source content for and send our monthly newsletter
  • Produce, publish and review website content, including the REI blog
  • Liaise with and recruit students, writers, designers and video editors for content creation
  • Oversee email journeys and write copy for new membership offer
  • Own Rethinking Economics' relationships with press
  • Support the creation and delivery of REI's communications strategy
  • Support the rollout of REI's new brand and website redevelopment

Technical Competencies & Experiences

Essential Desirable
Fluency in English (written and spoken) Fluency in a language other than English
Social media management experience Interest/understanding of economics
Experience with email platforms (Action Network, Mailchimp) Ability to deliver engaging training
Graphic design skills (Canva or similar) Project management experience
Copy writing across multiple channels Experience with media relationships
WordPress or similar CMS experience Experience cultivating online communities
