Position: Costing Accountant
Location: Kisumu, Kenya
Experience: 2-4 years hands-on costing experience
Key Responsibilities
Costing & Inventory Management
- Oversee inventory and costing procedures related to accurately tracking COGS
- Manage company inventory including production reports in DEAR system
- Conduct inventory reserve analysis on a quarterly basis
- Perform random inventory checks and ensure accuracy in reports
- Plan and record variable costs (raw materials, operations costs)
- Lead weekly and monthly stock counts at Feed mill, Breeder Farm, Hatchery, Depots
- Review production costs weekly/monthly for cost-saving opportunities
- Maintain and review general ledger and reconcile balance sheet inventory items
- Analyze costs of raw materials and create cost-benefit analysis
- Assist in month-end and year-end closing with production cost reports
- Work with Finance Manager to build cost tracking systems
- Oversee Store Keepers to ensure accurate record maintenance
Reporting
- Produce monthly Breeder Farm, Feed mill and Hatchery production cost reports
- Produce weekly and monthly DOC and Feed reconciliation reports
- Produce weekly and monthly inventory reconciliation reports
External Stakeholder Management
- Support in providing information to external auditors during annual audits
Other Tasks
- Support Cost Accountant during month end reporting
- Carry out weekly and monthly stock takes at production sites
- Custodian of inventory record books (Stock cards, dispatch notes, etc)
- Carry out any other activities as assigned
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Experience: Minimum 2-4 years of hands-on costing experience
