Role Overview

The successful candidate will be tasked with leading end-to-end supply chain operations, managing procurement, inventory, and supplier relationships, and ensuring alignment with the institution's business goals and policies. This role involves close collaboration with all relevant stakeholders to optimize supply chain processes and facilitate seamless interdepartmental operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage procurement and supply chain management strategies towards achieving high-quality medical supplies, equipment and services at optimal cost and value in alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
  • Identify, evaluate and manage suppliers while fostering strong supplier relationships for quality assurance and value for money services.
  • Conduct market research, evaluate supplier bids, negotiate contracts, and manage the tendering process to secure optimal pricing and terms.
  • Ensure compliance with institutional procurement and supply chain policies, industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee inventory management and maintain optimal stock levels in a manner that prevents shortages or excess stock and minimizes expiries.
  • Implement cost saving measures through effective and strategic purchasing practices, price benchmarking, and bulk procurement when feasible.
  • Prepare, negotiate, and manage contracts, ensuring clarity in service and product specifications.
  • Conduct risk assessments related to supply chain and procurement processes and take corrective actions to mitigate risks.
  • Manage the full supply chain cycle: raising requisitions, placing orders, tracking deliveries, receiving supplies, proper and safe custody, supplies issuance, proper documentation and record keeping.
  • Maintain accurate, complete and verifiable records of purchases, contracts, vendor performance and all procurement operations.
  • Prepare and present supply chain analysis reports for management, detailing expenditures, savings, supplier performance, and overall procurement activity reports.
  • Develop strategies and guidelines for process improvement to enhance efficiency and controls in supply chain and procurement operations.
  • Participate in the institution's strategic and quality improvement systems.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement or related field
  • Professional certification – KISM, CIPS
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in similar or related role with 2 years in supervisory role
  • Prior experience in healthcare procurement and ERP systems will be an added advantage
  • Good interpersonal, public relations and communication skills
  • Excellent customer service, negotiation and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated integrity and accountability
