Position: Agricultural Field Supervisor
Location: Kisumu, Kenya
Industry: Manufacturing & FMCG
Experience: Minimum 3 years in cereal production
Purpose of the Role:
Provide technical agricultural extension services and guidance/support to Kenya Brewery Ltd's LRM growers and value chain actors to ensure timely delivery of competitively priced brewing local raw materials in required quantities and desired quality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Recruit growers and acreage to deliver agreed tonnage of cereals (mainly sorghum)
- Source raw materials in the most cost-effective manner while maintaining quality
- Identify and mitigate local raw material sourcing risks
- Deploy digital farming platforms for accurate records and traceability
- Provide technical agriculture extension services and post-harvest handling training
- Work with stakeholders and value chain actors to ensure set targets are met
- Implement and operate a safety agenda and risk assessment plans
- Ensure compliance with all local and Diageo policies
Qualifications & Experience Required:
- University degree in Agricultural Sciences, Crop Production or related field
- Minimum 3 years' experience in cereal production (small grain cereals preferred)
- At least 1 year experience as Agricultural Extension Worker/Research Officer
- Experience working with smallholder farmers and contract farming systems
- Familiarity with cereals (sorghum) is an advantage
- Knowledge of equipment used in field planting, spraying and harvesting
Key Competencies:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and negotiation abilities
- Familiarity with digital traceability platforms and data management tools
- Demonstrated ability in farmers' engagement, training, and capacity building
