About the Role
Otro Night Club is looking for a highly skilled and certified Accountant to join its growing hospitality team in Kisumu. This role is ideal for a professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about maintaining accurate financial records, strengthening internal controls, and supporting business growth through sound financial management.
The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring the club’s financial health by managing daily transactions, preparing reports, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, and providing strategic insights to management.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date books of accounts in accordance with accounting standards
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly financial reports for management review
- Perform daily sales reconciliation across multiple payment channels including cash, POS systems, bank transfers, and mobile money
- Prepare profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports
- Monitor cash flow to ensure smooth day-to-day operations
Compliance & Statutory Obligations
- Ensure full compliance with Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) tax requirements including VAT, PAYE, withholding tax, and other statutory deductions
- Handle NSSF, NHIF, and payroll statutory remittances accurately and on time
- Maintain proper documentation for audits and regulatory inspections
- Support external auditors during periodic audits and provide required documentation
Payroll & Expense Management
- Prepare and process monthly payroll, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality
- Monitor staff expenses, allowances, and reimbursements
- Develop and enforce cost-control measures to improve profitability
- Track supplier invoices and ensure timely payments
Internal Controls & Risk Management
- Implement and maintain internal financial controls to reduce fraud and revenue leakages
- Conduct regular stock and asset audits, especially for bar and inventory items
- Review and strengthen financial processes and procedures
- Identify financial risks and recommend corrective measures
Budgeting & Business Support
- Assist management in preparing annual budgets and financial forecasts
- Provide insights to support strategic decision-making
- Analyze financial performance and highlight opportunities for cost savings and growth
Minimum Requirements
- CPA(K) or ACCA certification (mandatory)
- Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Minimum 1+ years’ experience in accounting or finance
- Strong knowledge of accounting systems and Microsoft Excel
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- High integrity and ability to handle confidential financial information

- Experience working in hospitality, nightlife, hotel, or restaurant environments
- Familiarity with POS systems and inventory tracking tools
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines
- Flexibility to occasionally work evenings or weekends when required
