Willis Raburu eyed for Kisumu Senate seat in 2027 as Orengo hints at candidacy
Media personality Willis Raburu has been pulled into early political conversations in Kisumu after James Orengo hinted he could be eyeing the county's Senate seat in 2027.
In a post shared on April 23, 2026, Orengo said he had met Raburu and praised his abilities, linking him to the Linda Mwananchi Movement, a faction within the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).
Raburu yet to confirm Senate bid
Despite the remarks, Raburu has not publicly confirmed any intention to run for office. However, the comments have drawn fresh attention to Kisumu's political landscape ahead of the 2027 elections.
The current Kisumu Senator, Tom Ojienda, has already declared interest in the county's gubernatorial seat on an ODM ticket. His move has created room for new aspirants to begin positioning themselves for the Senate race.
Political activity picking up ahead of 2027
Political mobilisation in the region has been gaining momentum as different factions within ODM intensify grassroots engagement. The Linda Mwananchi Movement, associated with Orengo and other leaders, has been holding rallies and consultations across the country as part of broader internal discussions on the party's direction and alliances.
While Orengo's statement appears to place Raburu in the Senate contest, the media personality has yet to make any formal declaration about his political ambitions.
